The San Jose Sharks announced yesterday that they’ve traded goalie Adin Hill to the Vegas Golden Knights, in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2024.
TRADE: We've acquired a 2024 fourth-round selection from the @GoldenKnights in exchange for goaltender Adin Hill.

I’ll try to go more in-depth on the deal soon but as a quick note, I’m not a huge fan of the move for San Jose. While James Reimer was the team’s clear top netminder, he also would’ve brought back the largest trade return. Given San Jose isn’t looking to compete right now (or at least shouldn’t be), it could’ve just made sense to get back assets for Reimer and keep Hill, alongside Kaapo Kahkonen.
Hill is still just 26 years old and while a .906 save percentage isn’t great, he also didn’t have much of a team in front of him. In a year’s time, the Sharks have given up on a decent goalie and essentially just turned a second-round pick into a fourth-round pick.
