Defensively, the Sharks looked pretty good and really didn’t give up that many quality chances. They limited the odd-man rushes and overall, this was one of their better defensive efforts of the season. It was good to see, given what we’ve seen over the beginning of the season from the Sharks.
Martin Jones didn’t look great in the win and got beat cleanly by a point shot on the third goal. He wasn’t screened and there was no deflection, which makes that a shot he needs to have. That said, there were some good saves as well, it just wasn’t on the level of two of his three starts he had before this game.
Of course, we have to mention Brent Burns' goal with under two minutes to go. That was a key play from a key player to get the Sharks the win and was it ever a nice goal.
Overall, this was a solid effort from the Sharks. Despite letting off the gas a little as the game went on, San Jose was good defensively and it was a big win to get themselves back to an even record this season.
