The San Jose Sharks picked up their second win of the season last night, defeating the St. Louis Blues by a score of 2-1 in a shootout.

The Sharks controlled the game in the third period, outshooting St. Louis 17-3 and despite not finding a goal, it was a really promising period for San Jose. They shut down chances for the Blues and had a few really good opportunities. The Sharks couldn’t secure the win in regulation or overtime but Tomas Hertl continued to be clutch, scoring the shootout winner.

It’s a little concerning that San Jose went 0-for-7 on the power play but they also didn’t give up a goal on any of St. Louis’ five power play chances, so we’ll call it even?

Overall, this was an important win for the Sharks. They beat a good team and played their most well-rounded game of the season.
