New York Islanders prospects Noah Dobson and Arnaud Durandeau will be facing off tonight in the Memorial Cup Final to battle for the most prestigious trophy in Canadian junior hockey.
Durandeau’s Halifax Mooseheads advanced to the final after the round robin based on goal differential, where Durandeau had a goal and three points in three games. Dobson’s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies won a semi-final game on Friday against the OHL champion Guelph Storm to punch their ticket to the final. Dobson has three points and is a plus-two in Rouyn-Noranda’s first four games of the tournament.
Durandeau, a 2017 sixth-round pick had 38 goals and 73 points in 68 games this year, while Dobson, a first-round pick last year, had 52 points in 56 games. Dobson will have a chance at his second-straight Memorial Cup, after winning last year with Acadie-Bathurst.
Durandeau is likely to be in the AHL with Bridgeport next year, while Dobson will compete for a roster spot with the Islanders but won't be AHL eligible for the season.
Puck drop is at 7 pm ET.
