The 3 skaters looking to possibly eclipse the 30 goal mark this season all made it on the board (Debrincat, Larkin and Raymond) but giving up the lead and losing in OT should burn the team. The single overtime point is welcome, and full marks to Minnesota for staying in it. This was a disappointment that could have and should have been avoided.
McLellan won’t likely hold back in the room, but probably doesn’t need to say much in the moment. Detroit, 22 seconds into the third, had a 3-1 lead and Minnesota just pummeled Talbot with shots. In the moment, it’s a hard pill to swallow. The team has just over 24 hours to take on the Anaheim Ducks and try to make good on this one.
Let me know your thoughts on this one, and if it’s too harsh a take to say the team was outworked and squandered a win as they hit the final stretch. As always, thanks to all who stop by. We’ll see you after the game tomorrow.
1st Period goals:
At 7:54 Debrincat gets Detroit on the board first with his 25th of the season. The play started with Copp’s impressive puck win at the blue line and beating 3 MN players sending it deep. Tarasenko got the puck but lost it, Copp regained posession and found Debrincat who scored on a beautiful backhander. 1-0 DET
