The Rangers begin a four-game west coast trip tonight in Las Vegas. The Knights, who are still without Adin Hill and recently lost Jack Eichel to injury, sit only in second place of the Pacific Division. Vegas is seven points shy of Vancouver but five ahead of LA and six north of Edmonton, though the Kings have three games in hand and the Oilers four.

Following tonight’s game, the Blueshirts head to Cali to face the Ducks on Saturday and Kings on Sunday. Coach Peter Laviolette hopefully starts Jonathan Quick against his former team. New York completes the trip Tuesday in San Jose against former coach David Quinn and the Sharks.
Vince Mercogliano had a good column on K’Andre Miller, who provided clarity as to why he stepped away from the team for a few days last month. Miller confirmed that the time off was a reset to concentrate on his mental health. Good for Miller that he realized he needed to step away and address this. Hopefully he continues to be attuned to his mental health and continues to work with the right professionals to help manage the situation appropriately. In addition, Miller recognizes that he and the team have not been at their best recently and what needs to be done to get both parties back on the beam.
We spend so much time focusing on performance that we often lose sight of what's going on under the helmet.

From that perspective, it took courage for K'Andre Miller to step away & focus on mental health.
