Preseason Split-Squad Gameday: 9/20/17 vs/@ NYI (Flyers)

UPDATE 11:45 PM EDT

None among NHL roster locks Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Sean Couturier, Valtteri Filppula, Ivan Provorov, Radko Gudas, Andrew MacDonald and Brian Elliott will play in either of Wednesday's split-squad games in Allentown and Brooklyn. Most figure to get into their first preseason game on Thursday in Boston. After taking maintenance days on Monday and Tuesday, Simmonds skated in Voorhees this morning.

Here are the Flyers projected lines for the split squad games:

ALLENTOWN GAME

Oskar Lindblom - Nolan Patrick - Nicolas Aube-Kubel Dale Weise - Jori Lehterठ- Matt Read Carsen Twarynski - German Rubtsov - Colin McDonald Taylor Leier - Corban Knight - Pascal Laberge

Sam Morin - Mark Alt Robert Hà¤gg - Shayne Gostisbehere Brandon Manning - Travis Sanheim

Michal Neuvirth/ Leland Irving

Note: It would not be a surprise if Aube-Kubel, McDonald, Alt and Irving are announced as roster cuts by tomorrow and remain in Allentown for the start of Phantoms camp. Rubtsov (QMJHL or AHL) and Twarynski (WHL) may also be cut by tomorrow.

BROOKLYN

Michael Raffl - Scott Laughton - Travis Konecny Jordan Weal - Mikhail Vorobyev - Radel Fazleev Connor Bunnaman - Mike Vecchione - Ivan Kosorenkov Greg Carey - Phil Varone - Danick Martel

Will O’Neill - Phil Myers Mark Friedman - Reece Willcox T.J. Brennan - Maxim Lamarche

Alex Lyon / Carter Hart (or Lyon/ John Muse)

Possible impending roster cuts: Bunnaman (OHL), O'Neill (AHL), Carey (AHL), Varone (AHL), Martel (AHL), Fazleev (AHL), Willcox (AHL), Brennan (AHL), Lamarche (AHL/ECHL), and Muse (AHL/ECHL). Camp invite Kosorenkov will be cut at some point, but with a fairly high degree of likelihood of being signed to an NHL entry-level contract first and then assigned to the QMJHL. Vorobyev, Friedman, Myers and Lyon may stay around Flyers camp a bit longer but are eventually likely to be assigned to the Phantoms even if not assigned by tomorrow.

FLYERS PRESEASON SPLIT-SQUAD GAMEDAY PREVIEW

Continuing what has become an annual tradition of scheduling early preseason split-squad games, the Philadelphia Flyers will play host to the New York Islanders on Wednesday night at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Simultaneously, the other half of the Flyers' split-squad lineup will be at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn to take on the rest of the Islanders' split-squad.

Rosters for the two games will be announced on Wednesday morning. The Flyers will hold dual morning skates at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Game time in Allentown and Brooklyn is 7 p.m. EDT. The Allentown game will be televised on TCN Philadelphia.

The Flyers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced on Tuesday evening that Nolan Patrick and Shayne Gostisbehere will be among the Flyers players to skate in the Allentown game. If the line combinations from Tuesday's practice remain in place, that means rookie Oskar Lindblom and second-year NHLer Travis Konecny will be Patrick's linemates and rookie hopeful Robert Hà¤gg will be Gostisbehere's defense partner. If the Flyers revert to Monday's lines, Patrick will be with former Phantom, Jordan Weal.

Lineups will be posted in a blog update.

Wayne Simmonds took "maintenance days" on both Monday and Tuesday. Travis Sanheim moved from Group 1 to Group 2 on Tuesday, although he was listed on the Group 1 lineup.
