Pre-game Report (Game 12): NYI vs TBL (Islanders)

The New York Islanders will look to extend their win streak to eight games tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here’s the pre-game report.

Here are the projected lineups, according to NHL.com’s Dan Rosen: NEW YORK Anders Lee - Mathew Barzal - Josh Bailey Anthony Beauvillier - Brock Nelson - Derick Brassard Michael Dal Colle - Casey Cizikas - Cal Clutterbuck Ross Johnston - Cole Bardreau - Oliver Wahlstrom Nick Leddy - Johnny Boychuk Adam Pelech - Ryan Pulock Devon Toews - Scott Mayfield Thomas Greiss Semyon Varlamov TAMPA BAY Alexander Volkov - Steven Stamkos - Nikita Kucherov Ondrej Palat - Brayden Point - Tyler Johnson Alex Killorn - Anthony Cirelli - Mathieu Joseph Yanni Gourde - Cedric Paquette - Luke Witkowski Mikhail Sergachev - Kevin Shattenkirk Ryan McDonagh - Erik Cernak Jan Rutta - Luke Schenn Andrei Vasilevskiy Curtis McElhinney Tampa Bay has won just two of their last games and they’ll be without Victor Hedman and Patrick Maroon, who are both injured. Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start.

The Islanders are keeping Derick Brassard on the wing and Cole Bardreau on the third line (which is now listed as the fourth line and realistically, it is the fourth line right now anyways). Thomas Greiss will be starting in net, while Noah Dobson and recently recalled Otto Koivula are scratched.

While the Islanders are coming off a bit of a rest, the Lightning have played three games in their last six nights. This will mark New York’s eighth home game of their 12 games this year, while the Lightning will be playing their ninth road game in 13 games. The Lightning haven’t necessarily gotten off to the start many likely expected them to but nonetheless, tonight’s game should be a good test for the Islanders. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
