Follow @SMaloughney Today the Oilers sent Evan Bouchard back to the London Knights and recalled Kevin Gravel.

Evan Bouchard played seven games for the Oilers. In seven games the 19 year old recorded a single goal, 10 shots on net, and averaged 12:21 a night. His production was nothing spectacular but what impressed me the most about Bouchard was his ability to perform under pressure. Bouchard rarely floundered and while he was caught out of position as rookies do, he played better with every game.
Bouchard is a skilled passer, harnesses a strong shot and will be a part of the Oilers blueline for many years to come. For now Bouchard will join fellow draftee Adam Boqvist and continue to improve.
The looming Seattle expansion draft certainly played a role in the Oilers decision. By sending Bouchard down before he reached the 9 game mark the team keeps his ELC intact for the next three seasons. Regardless on whether the expansion draft occurs in 2020 or 2021 this guarantees Bouchard will be under the Oilers control and will not have to be protected.
I mean it's only been a month of hockey but I'll admit this is unexpected pic.twitter.com/zqzAEJwXN4

It is still early but it's a welcome change to see three Canadian teams leading the Pacific Division.
The Oilers will play the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. The Red Wings are not a very good team....like at all... This is a game Edmonton should be able to take 2 points from. If they take the game lightly they could walk away looking pretty foolish.
