Follow @stlgoalie I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of the hockey fans and Hockeybuzz faithful a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas for those who celebrate it. May you and your family have a wonderful conclusion to the year and an even better new year.
While the Blues are enjoying their mini-vacation, let’s review their 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.
Some Blues fans will see the positives of the games. They will note that the Blues jumped out to the lead and held it all game, winning against a team with one of the best home records in the league. They will note that the Blues held Matthew Tkachuk to only one shot, on a power play and that Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Elias Lindhom were each -2. They’ll mention Oskar Sundqvist scoring a goal on 6 shots in less than 11 minutes, Jake Allen stopping 28 of 29 shots, Jay Bouwmeester playing almost 25 minutes while making 3 shot blocks and contributing an assist, David Perron netting a goal and an assist with two takeaways, and the Blues scoring this power play goal:
For the Blues fans in the 1st group, I hope they get their Christmas wish and the Blues are able to go on a run, making the playoffs while peaking and playing well. For the Blues fans in the 2nd group, I hope they get their Christmas wish and the Blues win the draft lottery, drafting Jack Hughes.
The Blues next 6 games and 11 of their next 13 are against Eastern Conference teams. How they fair against the Eastern teams in the next couple of weeks will finally make or break the season once and for all.
NHL Champions for Charity We’ve gotten some traction on the charity wager among the Central Division bloggers. More on that to come in the new year.
It’s a great day for hockey.
