Yes Markstrom, who so many times we've written about as being virtually untradeable, has now decided to carry the team on his back since the start of the month beating Boston, NJ and the Isles before losing in a heroic effort last night to the Rangers...
He was the best player on the MSG ice last night...and there was talent in the building...
Going 3-1 has put Calgary only 3 points out of wildcard spot...my question to you....
Do you move Markstrom now with his value at peak?
There are players all the time whose contracts make them impossible to ship out who also happen to remind you once in a while exactly why they have such huge contracts...Bobrovsky is perhaps the best example. When he is averageyou can't move him. When he is awesome you can't lose him.
And then there's the Never-Say-Die-ers....
Scott Laughton is the epitome of the perfect deadline acquisition. He could be moved and the Flyers are growing more and more confident that they could get a First rounder in return...However, the Flyers are 8 points IN the playoffs...NJ does have games in hand...
The Flyers are without their franchise goalie for a while and they have made it clear that they are still sellers...they have rallied into something special and Laughton has been Tortorella's favorite player...He is the only player with a letter on his jersey. Fantastic locker room character.
