Jets vs Wild and Dano claimed on Waivers (Winnipeg)

If you didn't see the long and somewhat tiring twitter conversation I had yesterday regarding Marko Dano being waived by the Avalanche then you might have done yourself a favor. That being said, Dano is again a Jet and likely assigned to the Moose as Elliotte Friedman tweeted that Dano had been claimed by Winnipeg.

Dano is certainly a polarizing player given the debate that was had and one that ignites more commentary about the team than him really. That being said 800k to play on the Moose is a tad expensive but he's there now and probably not a bad thing for the Moose and the curious case of his role with the Jets will continue on.

Today the Jets visit the Wild before wrapping up their four-game road trip in St. Louis. The Wild are playing some solid hockey and this will be the first meeting between the two division rivals this season. The Wild are 6-4-0 in their last 10 while the Jets come in after their first period beatdown in Calgary at 6-3-1 as the two teams are only separated by 2 points in the standings.

For those keep track the Jets are only 1 point off last year's pace after 20 games.

So what happens today?

That's a good question as do we see the regular bounce back game from Hellebuyck after he was pulled in the first period with 3 goals allowed or is Brossoit starting? As of a few minutes ago it is Hellebuyck and the same line up as in Calgary. Alex Staylock is in for the Wild.

So do we see the rather lackadaisical version of Winnipeg or the one who came out guns blazing against both Buffalo and Vancouver? That's the biggest question, what happened in Calgary compared to the prior two games. Sure the Jets righted the ship between the first two periods but the damage had been done. They have to prevent that today as the Wild have scored more goals but also have given up more.

Other questions that fans are pondering? Has Patrik Laine turned the metaphorical 'corner' now? With 5 goals in his last 2 games and three (3!!) at even strength Laine appears to be back to his old self. Perhaps its coincidence but he's also playing a far better 200' game and getting involved in all areas of the ice. That's good for a few reasons but is it helping his play on the scoresheet too?

Matinees have never been a strong suit for the Jets so let's see who has turkey hangover the team who was at home yesterday or the one who ate on the road?
