Two of Edmonton's top rated prospects will have the opportunity to spend more time on the ice at Rogers Place as it was announced over the past few days that both Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg would participate in the upcoming World Juniors.
Holloway, drafted 14th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Oilers made the final cut for Team Canada ahead of some other high end prospects such as Hendrix Lapierre, and Seth Jarvis who was drafted one spot higher than Holloway.
Holloway most likely will play on the wing on the third or fourth line for Team Canada, bringing some size and a strong two way game to the roster. This is an absolutely stacked roster with the NHL not starting up until at least the middle of January, a number of players that wouldn't have participated in this tournament will still get an opportunity.
Dylan Cozens, Kirby Dach, Bowen Byram all likely would have been with their NHL team under normal circumstances. Holloway still earning a spot on this roster should not be overlooked.

Moving overseas Philip Broberg will be joining Team Sweden adding his puck moving abilities to a roster that has some elite talent on the back end with the likes of Bjornfot and Sandin as well. Team Sweden has always been well known for their skilled defencemen and this year will be no different. Team Canada may have the best overall roster but Sweden has the best defence core and Oilers fans should be thrilled that one of their own prospects is part of that.

CARTER SAVOIE Edmonton's second pick in the 2020 Draft came all the way down in the fourth round where they selected Carter Savoie. Savoie took the AJHL by storm last season with 53 goals in 54 games which are some ridiculous numbers. Almost more impressive is the fact that Savoie continues to score at the same pace, now in his first college season.
The 18 year old forward leads the University of Denver with 6 goals and 9 points in 7 games. Savoie is tied for first in the league for goals with another high end sniper Cole Caufield, drafted a year ago by the Canadiens. Caufield has 6 goals in 10 games while Savoie has done it in only 7.
This is still an 18 year old kid and there will be bumps along the way but to see a fourth round pick (argued to be drafted higher by many pundits) performing so well right now is great to see. The Oilers forward prospect depth has been lacking over the past decade and with the likes of Holloway, Lavoie, and Savoie in the mix there is good reason to be excited.
