Some front office rumors today:
Heard from two sources, one today and one yesterday, that Joe Sakic could soon be leaving the GM spot in Colorado. I imagine he may be moved up to President of the team, but this could open up another GM spot.
Also hearing Dean Lombardi's name mentioned as possibly joining the Flyers organization with Hextall in Philly, but nothing definitive and no real idea of what exact position he would hold.
On the Caps and Penguins...
You need to tip your hat at least a little to Barry Trotz today. Trotz never panicked and following game 5 has made EVERY possible correct move taking the Caps from the brink of disaster to possibly the favorite to win this series in 7 after last night's dominating victory in Pittsburgh.
And he is outcoaching Mike Sullivan, who last year and prior to two games ago, was just about perfect in his coaching decisions....
The Caps have outshot and outplayed the Penguins for almost all 6 games...and now they seem to have learned a weakness on Fleury...high to the glove side. The Caps are playing with great confidence and the Penguins are going to need to turn this around really fast.
