Grubauer returns to face Ducks (Avalanche)

Philipp Grubauer returns to the crease Friday when the Avalanche play in Anaheim, the third game of their four-game road trip.

Here are the GAME NOTES.

Hunter Miska, in his first NHL start, made 23 saves Thursday when the Avalanche turned a 2-0 lead into a 4-2 loss in Los Angeles.

Defenseman Bowen Byram made his NHL debut and had one shot on goal and a holding penalty in 11:19 of ice time. He was the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NHL draft.

Defenseman Greg Pateryn, acquired Tuesday from Minnesota for Ian Cole, had two shots on goal and three blocked shots in 14:54. He was assessed a tripping penalty 39 seconds after Tyson Jost was penalized for goalie interference, giving the Kings a 5-on-3 power play that Drew Doughty converted, cutting the Avalanche lead to 2-1 in the second period.
