Garbage on ice - back to back humiliation at the hands of Ottawa (Red Wings)

Game Summary:

Whatever positive momentum Detroit had found is gone. In 2 days, Ottawa embarassed this team. I turned the game off in absolute disgust with what I’d witnessed. Detroit had found itself in a post season chase and in 2 days showed how they dealt with that pressure. Very, very poorly.

Echoes of Willy Wonka yelling, “you lose, sir!… Hang in the air like a foul stench. I feel like these games should have roller coaster warning attached for Red Wings fans. “If you have a weak heart, you may want to skip this one…. Right now, the team looks to have no heart at all.

Most of you know that I have dug for the positives in this rebuild. There have been good moments. Tonight looked like a pee wee team getting run over. Last night looked fairly close to the same. Where on earth is the effort, though a losing one, that Detroit put forth against Tampa Bay? It just seems to have disappeared.

With Friday’s deadline how just 3 days away anyone who was hanging on can probably let go now. This program produced a massive failure when it needed to dig in and rise above. 6 goals on 27 shots for the Sens? That is pathetic. 17 shots against is also pathetic.

I don’t know how they move on from the past 3 losses. It went from great effort to barely showing up. It may well emphasize that unless Husso is stealing a game, this team can’t really compete. They will have mics and smart phones in their faces and then that ugly silence.

For the next 3 days players will be waiting for calls and meetings to discuss the remainder of this season and the team moving forward. Again, I try to find that “silver lining… but this was awful to watch. The fans deserved better than what they saw the past two days. An absolute thrashing at the hands of the Senators.
