Flyers Extend Poehling... Laughton Available? (NHL)

The Flyers made official yesterday that they have signed Ryan Poehling to a two-year contract extension at a $1.9 million cap hit. John Tortorella LOVES this player and has often moved him from the fourth line to center the third and sometimes even the second line.

I've been hearing, though, that a Poehling extension could mean that the Flyers finally might make Scott Laughton available in trade. In two previous seasons and offseasons, the Flyers have received very tempting trade offers for the center/winger (including a conditional first-round pick offer in 2021 before the organization decided instead to sign him to a five-year extension). Last summer, the Flyers also had offers on Laughton (although the rumored first-round pick in return was not accurate, except as part of a larger trade that did not happen).

Laughton is THE acknowledged leader in the Flyers' dressing room. Tortorella, for two straight seasons, has refused to put the C on any player but Laughton is the only one who wears even an A.
