The Washington Capitals continued their insane ability to crush every team not named the Senators last night with a 5-2 win over the Devils.
They go into the all-star break as the best team in hockey. 33-10-6 and with a three point lead over the Wild for the President's Trophy. They are now 2/3 of the way through their second straight season as the best team in hockey. A feat which is arguably less likely to occur, and harder to do, than win a Stanley Cup.
Since Christmas, basically, they have scored 5+ goals in every game (except two, where they scored 4) that wasn't against Ottawa.
The Capitals will next score five goals Tuesday vs the Islanders.
The Capitals will send Ovechkin and Holtby to the all-star game, which doesn't seem like enough, but the rosters are pretty small.

Obviously Jeff Skinner is a pretty huge omission from this team. Mostly because I once referred to him as the "skin man" and now my son, who is four, tells me every day that Jeff Skinner is his second favorite player. "I like the skin man, but Morgan Rielly is better."
Either way, it should be fun. I am looking forward to the games this year. He is gonna love it and I think it will be fun. He doesn't really know anyone that isn't on the Leafs, besides Skinner, and Crosby. I probably haven't cared about an allstar game since I was 12.
It also must hurt to know that if was still on that team they'd probably be better than the Capitals.
