The road trip continues as Buffalo will faceoff against Thomas Vanek and Daniel Briere once again. Sunday night's loss set a franchise record for the most losses in an 82 game season.
Tyler Myers is expected to return tonight.
We all know this has become the worst season in franchise history when you take into account the goal-scoring, or lack thereof. They've scored just 14 goals in the last 11 games, and five of them came within the last two. The Sabres even blew a two goal lead faster than the Islanders.
With just 11 games remaining, it's very likely Buffalo will end up in that 30th spot, giving them the best chance at winning the lottery. Even in a season where the team is this bad, there are still a few games on the schedule to look forward to.
This Saturday, the Sabres will induct the Dominator into their hall of fame. At least the pre-game ceremony will be interesting to watch before Buffalo takes on the Lightning.
On Thursday, April 3rd, this may be the most intriguing matchup of the season. The Blues have basically become a team of former Sabres. It's not in Buffalo, but the team will go against Ryan Miller and Steve Ott, to name a couple.
At this point, we don't even have to worry about tanking. The real question is will the Sabres play spoilers to any of the Eastern Conference teams. They will have the opportunity to hurt others' playoff chances.
I only see Buffalo winning 3-4 more games, but with a pair of games against the Red Wings and one against the Rangers, the Sabres have potential to make an impact.
Here is the remaining schedule for Buffalo:

When you get to the end of the season, and you know your team isn't going any further, you have to treasure the last few games. After that, you're waiting months for your team to take the ice again. Normally, that is the case, but I sense that many people aren't even bothering watching this team any more. This is truly suffering.
Still, we need to enjoy Sabres Hockey for these final weeks, because then it's gone until October. I was talking to a friend (non-Sabres fan) who watched his Islanders team lose to Buffalo. He's knowledgable about the sport, but was surprised to see how many young, talented players the Sabres have.
The only thing we can do now is wait. With these players developing and a good chunk of draft picks, hopefully Sabres hockey becomes more fun to watch each season.
As always, thank you for reading!
