Game notes:
- At this point I don't think they'll make it, but if the Devils even want to think about a playoff spot they need to get going. They've won consecutive games once since the end of October and they're six points out of a playoff spot despite playing more games than most of the teams around them. They need to start winning and that starts tonight.
- Ottawa's defense is a bit of a mess (as evident by Mark Borowiecki playing on the top pairing) and they have limited ability to contribute offensively and move the puck up ice. If the Devils can somehow take away Karlsson or at least limit what he can do the blue line won't be any threat at all.
- Kyle Turris has points in three consecutive games since Dave Cameron took over and has 10 shots in that span. He's one of the most underrated two-way centers in the league and when he's going he's tough to stop. I'm assuming Travis Zajac's line will see a lot of him tonight.
- Not many Devils are scoring right now, but Scott Gomez enters tonight's game with six points in his last five. The Devils need him to keep going because they're missing a lot of their offense right now.
- The Sens are pretty good across the board when it comes to special teams, however, they have been prone to taking too many penalties at times. The Devils aren't a great 5 vs 5 team so they'll need to take advantage of their power plays if the Senators decide to spoon feed them opportunities.
