Game notes:
- The Devils are missing quite a few key bodies, especially up front, but they have to find a way to get two points tonight. Carolina is sitting last in the Eastern Conference, and are in the 2nd half of a back-to-back. It's time to get some results.
- New Jersey relies pretty heavily on offense from the defense and that will be the case even more so tonight with five of the team's top-9 forwards out of the lineup. They have to contribute.
- The Devils really need a boost from their secondary (now primary) scorers. Adam Henrique is averaging .75 points per game and that leads the team. That's not near good enough when you factor in the team's bad penalty kill and that they allow upwards of three goals per game.
- To put the team's offensive struggles into perspective, Michael Ryder has no goals and five assists in his last 13 games, yet is only one point behind Henrique and Jaromir Jagr for the team-lead. That's, well, not good.
