Ducks Host Oilers + Odds, Ends and a Rumor (Ben Lovejoy)

Oilers @ Ducks

The Ducks host the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the Honda Center. Tomorrow they hit the road for a five game road trip to Canada.

Frederik Andersen will start again between the pipes. He will be backed up by Igor Bobkov. Newly signed goalie Ilya Bryzgalov will start tonight for the Norfolk Admirals. It will be his first game action since last season's playoffs. He will most likely join the Ducks during the upcoming road trip. Tonight's lineup should be similar to the one that beat Winnipeg on Sunday.

Yesterday's Rumor

Yesterday, Eklund reported that the Bruins were interested in right wing Jakob Silfverberg. Further, Boston was willing to part with a defenseman to do so. Unless that guy's name is Hamilton or Krug, its hard to believe the Ducks would be interested. Its been said many times by many people in the know, that the biggest thing the Ducks need is to get healthy.

Unless the B's are offering a totally lopsided trade, the only position the Ducks should be interested in upgrading at this time is a top pairing defenseman. Reportedly, the Coyotes have Keith Yandle available. Arizona could make for an interesting dance partner.

Odds and Ends

Earlier today coach Bruce Boudreau said he expects defenseman Ben Lovejoy to rejoin the team during the upcoming road trip.

Today was the funeral for hockey legend Jean Beliveau. I met him one time years ago and even in a casual setting, he was first class all the way. The game has lost a true gentleman.
