Who will win the Calder Trophy in 2017-18? (Coyotes)

In this edition of the hotstove, we share our Calder Trophy picks for the 2017-18 season.

Todd Cordell

Clayton Keller.

He recorded two points in a three-game test drive with Arizona at the end of last season and was very productive at the Worlds in May. While playing a pivotal role for USA, Keller scored five goals and tallied seven points in just eight games.

The 7th overall pick in 2016 has extraordinary puck skills and should see meaningful minutes on a Coyotes team in desperate need of more offensive ability and creativity.

I think he'll make the most of the opportunity and pile up the points at a pretty good clip en route to the Calder.

James Tanner The Calder this year is going to go the Dylan Strome. In what I am pretty sure will be the first major award given to an Arizona Coyote, Strome will lead the Coyotes and all rookies in points.

The Coyotes have kept him out of the NHL for two years now, and he is going to have a really strong rookie season. He's older and more experienced than most rookies and he's got a team that will give him first-line level ice time, since after Stepan, the team's centres are weak.

Peter Tessier Picking a Calder winner this early is probably the biggest WAG right now and considering the spread of talent across this year's draft class. This year is probably one of those years when some one comes out of nowhere and scoops up he award from top names of Nick and Nolan.

Who that will be is anyone's guess. It won't be Boeser though as it's no secret in Vancouver media about leaks from within the organization about his skating. I'd like to drop a name and say watch this guy but I can't do I'll throw a dark horse out there in Kyle Connor. He's still eligible and after a season in the AHL after starting in NHL last year and playing only 20 games. He's bulked up and looks ready to reset a bit of a rough start from last year.
