A little background...
When I was a kid I was able to witness the Battle of Alberta first hand...Those Flames and Oilers teams were unreal. They would meet in the playoffs almost every year and it would be epic. The Oilers won playoff series against Calgary in 1983, 1984, 1988, and 1991. The Flames won in 1986...and many remember that one more than the others...
So many moments...
From the Gretzky OT goal in '88, to the Steve Smith own goal which defined "own goals" forever in the sport, to Sheldon Souray and Iginla, to Eberle's unreal first NHL goal...it goes on and on and on...
What were some of your favorite moments in the Battle of Alberta?
while there were unbelievable moments, the one part the one part of the Battle which always was constant was it was how much the Oilers and Flames geared up for each other...Those Flames teams who lost to the Oilers...they were damn good teams...
Well the Battle has been on hold somewhat over the last few years, but there is no doubt it is heating up again...Edmonton is ready to spring onto the scene as a legit contender with a cray talented offense...and Calgary has once again put together a tough bunch players to match them...
Edmonton has one of the best offenses in hockey and Calgary has one of the best defenses...
It will only get better from here...
Who do you think the better team will be in 2017-18?
