Varlamov set for Canes (Avalanche)

Semyon Varlamov will be in goal when the Avalanche look to rebound in Carolina on Saturday after Thursday's 6-1 loss in St. Louis.

Here are the GAME NOTES.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 11 shots after relieving Jonathan Bernier against the Blues. He already was scheduled to start against the Hurricanes.

Varlamov set an Avalanche record with 57 saves on Nov. 2 when they defeated Carolina 5-3 at the Pepsi Center. Quebec's Ron Tugnutt holds the franchise record of 70 saves in a 3-3 tie at Boston on March 21, 1991.

The Avalanche didn't have a morning skate after coach Jared Bednar put them through a tough practice Friday in which he experimented with some new line combinations.

Bednar had Mikko Rantanen on a line with Tyson Jost and J.T. Compher, with Colin Wilson back with Gabriel Landeskog and Alexander Kerfoot.

Blake Comeau (upper-body injury) is questionable.

Possible lineup:

FORWARDS Gabriel Landeskog -- Alexander Kerfoot -- Colin Wilson Tyson Jost -- J.T. Compher -- Mikko Rantanen Matt Nieto -- Carl Soderberg -- Gabriel Bourque A.J. Greer -- Dominic Toninato -- Nail Yakupov

DEFENSE Nikita Zadorov -- Erik Johnson Patrik Nemeth -- Samuel Girard Anton Lindholm -- Tyson Barrie
