Hello All,
The Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers tonight and what I will describe as an emotional game.
I will not be discussing Tom Wilson and anything that transpired in this game related to Tom Wilson. The amount of personal hate messages I received both publicly on the boards and privately in my inbox was just absurd. I stand by my original post and comment on the matter. Moving on.
Today we are talking about something POSITIVE and much more important than anything else trending in the sports world at the moment. TJ Oshie scored a hat trick a day after his dad passed away. No words can really describe how amazing and special this must have been for TJ and his family.
When Oshie won the Stanley Cup back in 2018, he shared many special moments with his father that night. Memories that would last forever. Here is a clip from an interview on the ice where he talks about his father:
Oshie missed the game against the Rangers on Monday for personal reasons and it was reported on Tuesday that his father had passed away. Oshie posted this to twitter:
It’s with a heavy heart today that my family mourns the passing of my Dad “Coach Oshie.… Coach lived life to the fullest and was unanimously loved by everyone who met him. Thanks to all the family and friends for their support. Heaven received a legend today. #RIPCoachOsh pic.twitter.com/WSAgNNtTpO

I was genuinely surprised to hear that TJ would be playing in this game considering it was the day after his dad passed away. I lost my father years ago and I was curled up like a hermit in my apartment for months after. This guy is out here playing in an NHL game. Crazy.
You could tell TJ was laser focused tonight. He was everywhere doing everything. His focus was purely and solely on winning this game and playing his best for his dad. He had no interest in all the other shenanigans. I could be wrong but I vaguely recall someone from the Rangers trying to fight Oshie in the middle of a play. No real comment there other than tonight was not the time and place for Oshie to be getting in a fight. He was focused on something bigger.
Here is a clip of all three goals:
I have nothing but love for my teammates. I will be forever grateful for this night and especially because I got to share it with my brothers. #ForCoachOsh https://t.co/5EnKx8kjS3
