The Twin Cities proved once again that they can put on a tremendous show despite the weather conditions, the masses are certain to participate in full force and enjoy every last second. The events surrounding the Big Game were nothing short of amazing and the culture and spirit of Minnesota was intertwined throughout.
Regardless of the outcome or the team that you were rooting for, the game was exciting to the very end, and delivered one of if not the greatest Super Bowl to date. The game featured the legend against the back-up and had sub-plots galore, but when the dust had settled the result was the single highest combined yardage total, not of any Super Bowl, but of any game ever played in the history of the NFL.
So for those that like offense you certainly got your wish and for those arm chair quarterbacks that always second guess coaches for not going for it, got to witness Eagles head coach, throw caution to the wind on several occasions, ultimately leading to the Philadelphia victory.
I for one am of that ilk, that says "play to win", never ever "play not to lose". To me that is what separates the winners from the could have beens.
The Minnesota Wild are currently in the latter category, trying to build the perfect team that can be just that on the ice. Well we have seen how that plays out, and the five early playoff exits are a result of this strategy.
A lot can be learned from Doug Pederson, and his Philadelphia Eagles. Never stop working to get better, never allow excuses to become a factor, never give up, and always always always, play to win!
The Wild have talent, there is no real argument there. What they truly lack is a commitment to do what it takes to win on a consistent basis when the games mean the most. That is an intangible that is rare, and it comes in different forms. It is not like a light switch, one can just flip. It is a mind set that becomes infectious and once it spreads throughout an entire team, then and only then can the team accomplish greatness together.
