New Jersey Devils announced that eight players will be assigned to the Utica Comets of the AHL.
Forwards: Graeme Clarke Nolan Foote Brian Halonen Aarne Talvitie
Defensemen: Reilly Walsh Nikita Okhotiuk
Goaltenders: Nico Daws Akira Schmid
Forwards Andreas Johnsson and Brian Pinto have been placed on waivers.
Three more moves will be made before the Devils can get to the opening night roster of 23 players, which must be submitted by 5:00pm ET on October 10th.
My Take
This is not surprising here. Andreas Johnsson, who played well in the first half of last season, has not played well enough to make the cut. I would expect that at some point Walsh, Okhotiuk, Clarke, and Foote will see some playing time with the Devils.
I believe that Fabian Zetterlund will have a good shot of making this team. Could Michael McLeod be sent down by Monday? We shall see.
Devils travel up to Boston to play the Bruins in the final preseason game. Devils are 4-2-0 in preseason and looking to finish strong.
