Quick Hits: August 24, 2023

1) The final episode of the offseason "Liftoff" debuts this week. The installment centers around the Flyers recent Development Camp, on and off the ice. There is also an individual profile on defensemen Oliver Bonk, whom the Flyers selected with the 22nd overall pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The episode will debut on the Flyers' YouTube channel tonight at 7:00 p.m. EDT. A trailer follows below.

3) The 2023 edition of the Flyers Alumni Fantasy Camp wrapped up on Monday. Every year is fun but this year was an especially good time. Lehigh Valley Phantoms head coach Ian Laperriere was NHL Network yesterday, talking about the camp. Along with John LeClair, Laperriere served as co-coach of Fantasy Camp Cup tournament champion, Team KLYR.

4) Flyers Daily: On yesterday's edition of the Flyers Daily Podcast, host Jason Myrtetus discusses head coach John Tortorella: areas of progress last season, challenges entering season two of the organization's rebuilding process, maintaining buy-in, and the roles that the anticipated returns of Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson could play. 5) Current Flyers/Phantoms forward Olle Lycksell celebrates his 24th birthday today. Last season, Lycksell had a very strong NHL training camp but did not make the opening night roster. He subsequently appeared in eight NHL games (0g, 1a), but spent most of the season in the American Hockey League with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 53 games with the Phantoms, lycksell led the club with 31 assists and was second on the club in overall scoring with 45 points. Lycksell posted four points (2g, 2a) in the Phantoms' three-game playoff series with the Charlotte Checkers.

7) Today in Flyers History: August 24, 1982

Twenty-nine-year-old Flyers defenseman Bob Dailey announced his retirement. Dailey suffered a devastating ankle injury in a game in Buffalo on Nov. 1, 1981, that brought his career to an abrupt end. Dailey, a two-time NHL All-Star and two-time winner of the Barry Ashbee Trophy during his Flyers career, later attempted a comeback in 1985-86 but retired again after five rehab games with the AHL's Hershey Bears.
