Regular season games don’t usually get more interesting than the one that is being played tonight between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vegas Golden Knights. Pittsburgh’s adopted son is making his first return to Pittsburgh since being traded away in the offseason due to the expansion draft. A hero’s welcome is expected for Marc-Andre Fleury who was the Penguins #1 overall draft pick in 2003.
There were many peaks and valleys with Marc-Andre Fleury’s time in Pittsburgh as far as his on-ice results were concerned. The constant was his positive attitude and admiration from his teammates. His lows were low and he always handled things with a high degree of professionalism. The situation surrounding his departure could have been awkward and uneasy, but it wasn’t. It even included the swan song of Fleury sticking it to the Capitals one last time.

This game could go in a number of different ways, but here is to hoping the one it does take is the one where Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang get a crack at Fleury in the shootout. That would be something.
