The New Jersey Devils have announced their roster for the 2017 Prospects Challenge, which begins this Friday in Buffalo.
The Devils will be bringing a strong 27-player roster headlined by Nico Hischier, Michael McLeod, Steve Santini, John Quenneville, Blake Speers and Will Butcher, among others.
The roster breaks down as follows:
Forwards (15) -- Hischier, McLeod, Quenneville, Speers, Nick Lappin, Nathan Bastian, Brandon Gignac, Brandon Baddock, Ryan Kujawinski, Jan Madat, Austin Cangelosi, Nikita Popugaev, Jesper Bratt, Marian Studenic, Nicolas Guay.
Defensemen (9) -- Santini, Butcher, Michael Kapla, Josh Jacobs, Yaroslav Dyblenko, Jacob MacDonald, Colton White, Colby Sissons, Jocktan Chaney.
Goaltenders (3) -- Mackenzie Blackwood, Evan Cormier, Ken Appleby.
Five of the 27 players appeared in games with the big club last season, two others were 1st round picks, and one was a Hobey Baker winner, so there will be no shortage of talent on display.
The Devils will play three games with the first coming Friday night (7 p.m.) against Buffalo. They play again on Saturday vs Pittsburgh (3:30 p.m.) before concluding the three-game mini-tournament on Monday (12:00 p.m.) against Boston.
All three games are expected to be streamed on the team's official website. If you're at work, or have other obligations, and miss a game, the Devils are making it quite easy for you to catch up.
The plan is to post full games AND highlight packages after each of the three games in Buffalo. I just need technology to work :)
