Small card tonight with so many games being postponed due to covid. It’s still tough getting a handle on teams this early in season, over the next two weeks I think we will see some serious separation with the teams that are for real this season!
Three angles that I have been tracking that might be something to look at both short and long term are as follows.
Scenario #1 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 21-8! Columbus fits the system tonight.
Scenario #2 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 9-8 when teams play on the road back to back nights. Carolina/Columbus fit this system tonight.
Scenario #3 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 26-20 in that situation.
Quick stat updates - First period totals going over were 9-2 last 2 nights and are 88-85 on the season. Road teams were 7-4 last 2 nights and are 71-102 on the season. Home side the way to go even with the higher juice on the ML! Game totals going over the total were 7-4 last 2 nights and are 98-73-2 on the season, which is still a very profitable angle.
Gamenotes for tonight –
Canucks/Leafs – 3rd game in 5 nights with these two teams, Toronto has dominated the first two, no reason they don’t again tonight!
Canes/Jackets – Back to back nights facing each other. CLB is a different team at home. Canes 5-1 in their last 6 games.
TB/Preds – Same scenario, Preds 4-1 at home, while TB not as solid on the road.
Oilers/Sens – Sens have tightened up defensively and are a far better team at home. Lets see if they can continue to their strong structured play.
