So it looked like the Penguins were going to once again have the best center depth in the NHL after seemingly trading for Derick Brassard this afternoon, but not so fast...
Hearing @NHL has rejected the Brassard trade unless @penguins @Senators @GoldenKnights can restructure the trade to leagues satisfaction.

So is this like when David Stern said no to the Lakers trading for Chris Paul because... reasons?
My guess is this has to do with the salary retention part of the trade. I believe the Penguins are trying to get salary relief from both Ottawa and Vegas. We will have to see what comes of it.
Ottawa, Pittsburgh and VGK are still ironing out wrinkles in the Brassard trade to Pens. It's being reworked according to sources.

In order for @GoldenKnights or any other team to retain salary they must FIRST have the player on their reserve list. You can not do a 3 way trade & assert that one club pays part of the salary for another player that is not on reserve list. Just a guess as to the wrinkle.
