Per Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston, the Toronto Maple Leafs will protect eight skaters and goalie Jack Campbell for the Seattle expansion draft this week. The club is protecting four forwards (Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and John Tavares) and four defensemen (TJ Brodie, Justin Holl, Jake Muzzin, and Morgan Rielly), instead of seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie because it would leave Holl exposed.
The club will leave forwards Alex Kerfoot, newly acquired Jared McCann, Adam Brooks, Pierre Engvall, Wayne Simmonds, Jason Spezza, and defenseman Travis Dermott available.
