Put together your ultimate team today. Mine is below. Can you top it?
Here is my ULTIMATE Roster Under the Cap. I fit all these players and still have just over $1M in Cap Space.
Centers 1. Connor McDavid: $12.5M Not that you have to justify the man, but I love him even more after the growth seen last year in the playoffs...Can you imagine he could be even better?
2. Auston Matthews: $11.64M He is going to get 60. maybe 65. The best scorer in the NHL.
3. Carter Verhaeghe: $4.16M Carter will take a huge step and challenge for the scoring leader on the Panthers. He was their leading scorer in the playoffs last year and without him, they don't get past Florida.
4. Roope Hintz: $3.15M A total stud/star in the making. So smooth for Dallas. Maybe the most underrated player in the NHL.
Left Wings I am going with some cap bargains here so I can load up at Center, and on D.
1. Tanner Jeannot: $800k Tanner is the real deal and his penalty minutes are a huge bonus in hockey pools.
2. Lucas Raymond: $925k He is way ahead of schedule and won't sneak up on anyone. Raymond is an pure scorer.
3. Tim Stuetzle. $925k Great things happening in Ottawa. Way under paid...
4. Michael Bunting $950k Will he catch lightning in the bottle again? Maybe..
Right Wings.
1. Mitch Marner $10.9M alot of money here...alot of vision too... Mitch is consistent and I see the Leafs as the highest scoring team this year.
2. Cole Caufiled $458k His salary is insane. His skill under Marty St Louis was unquestionable. He will be dominant again.
3. Ryan Hartman $1.7M Hartman had a career year..beyond that even...but he is a bargain even if he can't quite reach the same levels.
4. Oliver Wahlstrom $894k I believe in the Wall. He is second only to Barzal in pure scoring ability. The Isles need him to be that to make the playoffs. I think he does.
Defense
1. Cale Makar $9M Best player in the league? Maybe. Best since Orr? Maybe.
2. Victor Hedman $7.8 M So strong.So consistent.
3. MacKenzie Weegar $3.25M He wants a HUGE raise. That is why Florida moved on. Its possible he is worth it though. You know for sure he will try to be.
4. Moritz Seider $833k Already a top ten D-man? Yes
5. K'Andre Miller. $875k Just keeps getting better. I am K'OK with this kid.
6. Bo Byran $894K He has been allowed to develop in a perfect place and a perfect pace. He could explode onto the scene at any moment.
Goalies (a Flyers fan going with NY guys...ugh) 1. Igor Shesterkin $5.67M The best there is....for now. Love everything about him and love the Rangers. They will win plenty for him.
2. Illy Sorokin $4M A hell of a bargain. the best that will be...this year or next.
So THAT is my ultimate salary cap NHL team. Even though you might not be able to do better, you are welcomed to try.
