Game Night in the Peg (Ducks)

House of Cards

The Ducks built a tenuous 3-2 lead Saturday night in Minnesota only to see a collapse in two minutes during the third period. There are plenty of excuses to explain the loss away such as Jakob Silfverberg didn't play; John Gibson left the game in the first period; birds fly south for the winter. The explanation is simple; Anaheim got sloppy and made serious mistakes that their opponents took advantage of. The Ducks learned a valuable lesson, against good teams errors like ill-timed pinches by defensemen to puck giveaways will kill you.

News and Notes

* John Gibson practiced with the team yesterday. He looked fine after bowing out Saturday due to an UBI. His injury is not serious enough for the team to recall another goalie. * Nice article on Teemu Selanne on nhl.com https://www.nhl.com/news/teemu-selanne-not-looking-to-return-to-nhl/c-285984488 * Shea Theodore's call up from San Diego before the current road trip was his eighth of the season. * Sami Vatanen was -4 against the Wild.

Ducks @ Jets

Tonight the Ducks road trip continues in Winnipeg. They have to put Saturday night in the rear view mirror and move on according to Cam Fowler. He told Ducks.com “I don't see it carrying on with our group. It happens. You have to be able to flush it and get ready for the next one. Gotta be able to regroup and get ready for a good Winnipeg team."

Jonathan Bernier will get nod in net tonight, giving Gibson the game off. As for the skaters, the same lineup from the weekend should carry over to tonight as Logan Shaw replaces the injured Silfverberg on the second line again.
