In his Da Beauty League maiden voyage, Samson Reinhart and his Tria Orthopedics teammates jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Their lead would not last long.
Reinhart scored the game tying goal after Tria surrendered four straight goals.

In the end, NY Islanders sniper Brock Nelson and Vancouver Canucks scoring star Brock Boeser could not be stopped. Buffalo Sabres star Casey Mittelstadt was not in the lineup for Bic in the semifinal playoff game.

On Friday August 24, current and former NHL players will lace 'em up and face off in the annual Boston University vs. Boston College alumni hockey game affectionately known as "The Commonwealth Avenue Classic".
The fourth annual "Commonwealth Avenue Classic" will be played in honor of Pete Frates, Dick Kelley, Travis Roy, and those who have been affected by ALS and spinal cord injuries.
On October 20, 1995, just eleven seconds into his first-ever shift for Boston University men's ice hockey team, a 20-year-old Roy fell head-first into the boards against the University of North Dakota. The awkward impact with the boards resulted in Roy cracking his fourth and fifth vertebra and leaving him a quadriplegic.
In 1997, Roy founded the Travis Roy Foundation.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Compassionate Care ALS, Pete Frates Home Health Initiative, and the Travis Roy Foundation.
The "Commonwealth Avenue Classic" game has raised over $180,000 since its inception in 2015.
This year's event promises to be the biggest and best ever from a star power perspective and a fundraising impact.
Buffalo Sabres star Jack Eichel will represent his BU along with fellow Terrie alums Charlie McAvoy (Bruins), Clayton Keller (Coyotes), Charlie Coyle (Wild), and Nick Bonino (Predators). The Buffalo Sabres will be well represented on Team BU by Eichel, Evan Rodrigues, Danny O'Regan, Brandon Hickey.
Boston College will be well reprsented by veteran NHLers Chris Kreider (Rangers), Brooks Orpik (Capitals), Brian Boyle (Devils), Brian Dumoulin (Penguins), The Hayes Brothers, and Nathan Gerbe (Blue Jackets).

What is CCALS?
Compassionate Care ALS is a non-profit organization with a mission to support people diagnosed with ALS, their families and communities as they navigate the complexities, both physical and emotional, associated with the disease. The organization provides resources including equipment, educational workshops, Medicare/Medicaid assistance, guidance and awareness in living with ALS, caregiving, and end-of-life issues.

The Pete Frates Home Health Initiative aims to provide in-home caregiving assistance for individuals living with ALS in Massachusetts who cannot otherwise pay for these services. The initiative is named in honor of Pete Frates, who inspired the world to fight ALS by taking the Ice Bucket Challenge.
What is ALS?
ALS is a degenerative and fatal neuromuscular disease that causes individuals to gradually lose control of their voluntary muscles. Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS has no known cause or cure. The disease progresses differently in each case, though people often die when they lose the capacity to breathe or swallow, while retaining their ability to see, hear, and comprehend what is happening.

In its infancy two summers ago, Da Beauty League teams were comprised exclusively of NHL and NCAA players who play(ed) in the state of Minnesota and in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. Times have changed. Now NHLers from all over the USA and Canada are opting to skate in Da Beauty League.
Reinhart's Buffalo Sabres teammate Zach Bogosian is responsible for recruiting Reinhart to Minnesota for summer training and fishing.
Sabres players Casey Mittelstadt and Casey Nelson also run and gun in Da Beauty League.
Reinhart, 22, has been patiently waiting for his agent and Sabres GM Jason Botterill to hammer out a long term contract extension for the former second overall pick in 2014.
Reinhart scored a career high 25 goals last season. He had 50 points.
The fan base is getting restless in Buffalo with Reinhart still unsigned with the start of training cap three weeks away.
Reinhart wants a long term contract. How long? In the same neighborhood of Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin, who as an RFA re-signed two weeks ago for five years contract at an average annual value of $6.1 million.
Reinhart's agent is using the Larking deal as a contract comparable along with the following contract comps that have been fonalized in teh past two months:
Adam Henrique’s $5.85M (x 5) deal with the Ducks James Neal’s $5.75M (x 5) contract with the Flames Tomas Hertl’s $5.625M (x4) extension with the Sharks J.T. Miller’s $5.25M AAV (x5) extension with the Bolts Tom Wilson’s $5.17M (x 5) windfall with the Capitals. Christian Dvorak’s $4.45M (x6) contract extension with the Desert Dogs.
On gets the impression that while Reinhart is looking for a long term, high AAV deal now, that Botterill may be leaning to a three year bridge at a $4.5M AAV so that Reinhart can continue to prove himself.
Reinhart erupted to score 37 points (18G, 19A) in his final 38 games of the 2017-18 season. Reinhart scored 20 goals in 43 games when the calendar flipped to 2018, which tied him for 12th-most in the NHL from January 1 until the end of the regular season in April. Not a bad finish to hiss third year of his entry level contract.
In his first 37 games of the season, Reinhart scored just 5 goas and 7 assists.
Young players go through slumps in the early stages of their NHL careers. Its understandable.
Time is of the essence and I'm sure Reinhart isn't thrilled about having no new contract in place this close to the beginning of his fourth pro training camp. Playing in Da Beauty League will give him game speed similar to that of the NHL. Its a lot better that skating gassers and scrimmaging with the bros at the local muny rink on hot summer days.
My guess is the delay in getting Reinhart re-signed is Botterill and Sabres head coach Phil Housley are asking the real Samson Reinhart to please stand up.
In 249 career games with the Sabres, Reinhart has scored 65 goals and 75 assists for 140 points. Reinhart has scored 29 PPG and 48 PPP. Reinhart scored a career-high 25 goals and 25 assists last season. His 50-points scored last season was a career high for Reinhart.
