Edmonton Oilers Draft Day (oilers)

Today the Edmonton Oilers will hit the draft floor with their first round pick and tomorrow they will draft the remainder of their picks. As it stands right now, here are the picks that the Edmonton Oilers have. Round 1 - 19th Overall Round 4 - 116th Overall Round 6 - 180th Overall Round 6 - 186th Overall Round 7 - 212th Overall

As it stands right now there aren't many rumours that involve the Oilers trading their first round pick but anything can happen on the draft floor. Perhaps Ken Holland decides to trade down to the bottom of the first round while gaining an additional second or third round pick. After the first round selection, the Oilers don't have anything until the fourth round.

One player that has been on the Oilers radar is Oil Kings goalie Sebastian Cossa who recorded a 0.941SV% in 19 games this season in the WHL. Cossa and SHL goalie Jesper Wallstedt are the two goalies projected to go in the first round, with Wallstedt likely going in the top 10 and Cossa projected to be available around where the Oilers pick. Holland did go on record stating a forward was more likely to be selected than a defenseman at that spot but if Cossa is available I can see them going that way. The 6'6 goalie is currently projecting as a future starter.

I will update the blog later with the pick or if any other notable Oilers news comes out.
