So the first round is almost over and the points are being tabulated in the "Do you know more than Eklund?" playoff prediction contest. However, since we have a three series starting this weekend, we need to get this thing going...
How this works...Pick the teams you think will win in the three series we know so far, and then you can either pick the winners in a Toronto/Winnipeg, or Montreal/Winnipeg series, or wait until we know that series and then I will post a blog for the North Division series where you can post that series prediction in the comments thread...
I will start with...
The NY Islanders vs. Boston Bruins...
Season series... The Islanders won the first 5 meetings, but the Bruins won the last three...
However, Ilya Sorokin only played in two of those games...once in relief....He gave up just 3 goals on 38 shots. And he will be the key, front and center in this series.
This will be an all-out war...two very physical teams with very strong set systems in place. These teams play very different styles, but in the end they have one major thing in common..They find ways to win games.
The Bruins are a bit more polished, but the Islanders are a bit more well-rounded.
I think the Isles ability to play team defense is going to give the Bruins fits...My pick?
In the end it will be Sorokin who continues his incredible rise...
The Islanders in 7.
