The Anaheim Ducks are now on a nine-game losing streak, following three more losses to the Nashville Predators, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks this week.

In the loss to Nashville on Monday, Anaheim hung in the game through 40 minutes, with the game tied at 2-2 going into the second intermission. However, Nashville took a two-goal lead with a pair of quick third period goals and hung on for a 6-3 win.

Despite going down at different points to the Blackhawks on Wednesday, the Ducks were able to respond to tie it up two times. However, Dylan Strome scored a late goal to put Chicago ahead and Alex DeBrincat added an empty net goal to secure a Blackhawks win.

On Saturday, the Ducks started strong against the Sharks in the first period and outshot them early. However, they fell behind and couldn’t catch up, going 0-for-4 on the power play and falling 4-1.

The Ducks have absolutely plummeted in the standings during the losing streak, now sitting seventh in the Pacific Division and 13th in the Western Conference.

While the Ducks were sellers at the deadline and it’s fair that the focus isn’t on this season, to have a losing streak reach nine games is pretty rough. They’re down a lot of pieces now but now at just a 27-29-11 record, Anaheim has fallen far.

Losing two massive pieces of their defense group would obviously take a toll, but John Gibson is continuing to struggle. His .857 save percentage over 14 games since the start of February is disastrous, even if he’s often counted on to make some big saves to keep the Ducks in the game.

Anaheim will return to action on Tuesday for the first of two home games against the Dallas Stars in the coming week.
