The Anaheim Ducks claimed forward Gerry Mayhew off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers today.

Mayhew is 29 years old and played 25 games with the Flyers this season, scoring six goals. He’s played a total of 42 career NHL games, having also spent time with the Minnesota Wild.

It's an interesting move for the Ducks, given that they aren’t going to be a playoff team and could just give the opportunity to other prospects instead. That said, they are dealing with some injury trouble and extra depth never hurts.
