The New Jersey Devils travel south down the turnpike to Philadelphia and aim to sweep the season series against the Flyers. This will be the last meeting the two rivals in the regular season.
The Flyers have won two straight and face a Devils team that lost to the New York Islanders and Nashville Predators on consecutive nights. The hot seat has been never been hotter for the Devils coaching staff as they are searching for answers of why the lack of production on the power play.
With lack of finishers and team identity, the Devils find themselves lost in a sea of teams vying for at least a wild card spot to get into the playoffs. The early wins earned to start the season have evaporated and the Devils find themselves threading above water. The talent is there but can the Devils play better on special teams, finish teams off in the shootout, and a complete game.
So we shall find out in Philadelphia if the Devils can finish the season series with the Flyers with a sweep. With a victory, they maybe able to sweep all of their latest woes under the rug.
Big Bahl and Studenic recalled from Utica
With Christian Jaros in the NHL Covid protocol along with Nico Hischier and Ryan Graves, Devils recalled Kevin Bahl and Marian Studenic from the Utica Comets. Bahl, who played seven games with the Devils last season, has two assists and a plus rating with the Comets under head coach Kevin Dineen this season.
