The Penguins former sweet knight returned to his former castle in combat against his former brethren. The common folk showered Marc-Andre Fleury with adulation in an emotional return even though it had a bitter end for the former hero in shiny golden padded armor.
Who would be the villain to score the first ever Penguins goal against Marc-Andre Fleury in front of his loyal minions? It wasn’t Sidney Crosby, it wasn’t Evgeni Malkin, it wasn’t Phil Kessel. As the points and goals continue to rack up for Phil and Geno so do their chances of taking home some impressive hardware. They both have a realistic shot at winning the Art Ross and Geno has a legitimate chance at winning the Rocket Richard.
It would be the 16th Art Ross Trophy for the franchise if one of those two were to pull it off. It would be even more if not for Crosby’s concussion and broken jaw. Phil would be the fifth player to do so joining Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin. Penguins fans have been spoiled with riches over the years.
