The Anaheim Ducks made two picks in the first round of this year’s NHL Draft today, selecting defenseman Pavel Mintyukov with the 10th overall pick and Nathan Gaucher with the 22nd overall pick.

Mintyukov will be turning 19 years old this year and had 62 points in 67 OHL games with the Saginaw Spirit this season. The numbers were good enough to lead the Spirit in scoring, despite Mintyukov being a defender.

Gaucher was taken with the pick received from the Boston Bruins in the Hampus Lindholm trade.

The forward will also be 19 years old this year and had 31 goals and 57 points in 66 games with the QMJHL’s Quebec Remparts. Size is also an asset for Gaucher, who stands at 6-foot-3 and weigh 207 pounds.
