Over 90 days have come and gone in the seemingly never-ending 5-month offseason of the Montreal Canadiens. Because headlines are nearly impossible to come by, here are a few quick hits along with what to expect this month on this sunny Wednesday afternoon:
- P.K. Subban hosted a Just For Laughs Gala last Monday night. Despite having promised not to roast the Habs, the flamboyant philanthropist couldn’t help himself:
HE SAID IT: Subban has some fun at the Habs' expense at Montreal's #JustForLaughs https://t.co/QjsVzdkFii #TSNHockey pic.twitter.com/xwl3UdSVRR

- The event helped raise $130,000 for the Montreal Children’s Hospital, a monumental number for a single evening:
So that happened....😂Thank you #Montreal for your incredible support! We raised over $130,000 for @HopitalChildren ! pic.twitter.com/OCCtEBnVMQ

- Subban nevertheless stayed true to his word elsewhere and wrote a letter to his friends at the Hospital :
I wanted my friends @HopitalChildren to know that I will never stop fundraising for them. So I wrote a letter...https://t.co/giImuJz4ou

(Curse those invisible ninjas cutting onions…)
- Superstar defenseman (and future whipping boy) Shea Weber will make his first appearance in Montreal as a Canadiens next Tuesday, August 9th. He’ll attend head coach Michel Therrien’s golf tournament, and you can bet that he’ll be shocked at how many members of the media will be present…
- In case you missed it, captain Max Pacioretty commented on the Subban trade and added that Weber is someone he can learn quite a lot from:
"It completely threw me off guard."

- Say what you will about Pacioretty, but if this doesn’t inspire leadership, then I don’t know what possibly could:

What to expect in August
This month, I’ll finish off my list of the top-10 right wings of all time and start a list of the top-10 goaltenders. As you might have noticed, certain news stories and conversations with loyal readers inspired me to shift my attention away from these topics, and I therefore apologize to those who were waiting for me to complete what I started back in the month of June. Nonetheless and as always, I’ll continue to blog about happenings as they come along.
Finally, I can’t thank my readers enough for the continued support during an awfully long summer for Habs fans. As my readership continuously and consistently grows, I felt it was appropriate that I salute you. I’m eternally grateful!
