Additionally, we have placed J.T. Compher on IR retroactive to 12/5, Klim Kostin on IR retroactive to 12/7 & Dylan Larkin on IR retroactive to 12/9. pic.twitter.com/Fp6m0FfHob
So, the hits keep coming. Compher, Larkin and Kostin are on IR, Perron is expected to be out for several games (waiting on update) and Detroit has recalled Czarnik, Zach Aston-Reese and Jonatan Berggren. Things look rough for Detroit’s upcoming schedule. Yet, oddly, a rumor popped up today as well.
Pro Hockey Rumors posted a note that Berggren is currently being shopped. If you read the piece, is is even Alluded to that JBs presence in Grand Rapids as opposed to Detroit may be due in part to the situation. At the end of last season, I’d posted that one of Zadina, Berggren or Veleno would likely be gone from the team. It would be surprising to see Berggren go any time soon while the team is down 4 forwards.
Things went from a position of a newly revived team to a patchwork with 3 important players missing from the fray. Detroit is now looking to Veleno, Copp and Rasmussen to stabilize the team and it remains to be seen how the team is going to respond.
We’re going to have to see this team on ice to get a feel for what the next 5 or more games could end up looking like. Whatever Compher is dealing with isn’t mending as they’d hoped. It’s hard to imagine Larkin not being out for at least a few weeks after being knocked unconscious in the last game.
Let me know what you think things are going to look like, and how soon the lineup will be returning to its original personnel.
