There's a whirlwind of activity surrounding the Vancouver Canucks now that training camp is underway. With a trip to China around the corner next week, the Canucks have chosen to keep camp close to home this year.
Here's how to take in the action if you'd like to stop by:

Click here for the updated camp roster on the Canucks website, which includes the 43 players previously announced, plus a select Young Stars players.
Goal: Thatcher Demko Defense: Guillaume Brisebois, Jalen Chatfield, Olli Juolevi and Mackenze Stewart Forwards: Brock Boeser, Michael Carcone, Yan-Pavel Laplante, Zack MacEwen and Griffen Molino
That's a pretty concise list and includes only the most highly-touted prospects and the standouts from the Young Stars tournament.
After sitting out the Canucks' second game against Calgary in Penticton, Jalen Chatfield returned to the lineup for the finale against Edmonton, on the top pairing with Olli Juolevi, and both defensemen had solid games.
Michael Carcone was the Canucks' first star against the Oilers, with two goals, while Mackenze Stewart dropped the gloves against Evan Polei after Polei laid a high hit on Brett McKenzie in the third period.

Yan-Pavel Laplante stood out with his high-energy game against Calgary and Griffen Molino showed off his speed, while Zack MacEwen was knocked out of the tournament in the first period of the game against Calgary.
Jonathan Dahlen, who missed Young Stars due to mono, is also on the camp roster. Here's the latest medical update for both the prospects and the veterans:

Dorsett has been fully cleared.
MacEwen will be 3 or 4 days.
Dahlen is being examined today.

Today's second session runs from 11:15-1:00. Group C, which consists of AHL players and the less highly-touted Young Stars prospects, will hit the ice from 1:30-3:15.

Jake seems like he has done a 180 from last year's camp. Maybe the tough-love routine he went through last year will have the desired effect?

There's plenty of competition for jobs at camp this year after Jim Benning's busy offseason. After getting a good look at the prospects in Penticton over the weekend, I broke down the details on the long list of new veterans who are at camp this year in my new column, Goal Posts, for the Westender:
