Three of the five games tonight are rematches from Saturday night. I will keep tracking these angles when teams play in these spots to see if we can find any advantage at all. The season is very young!
We played 6 dogs last night and it definitely didn’t go according to plan. We are close to the three week mark of the season and I am hopeful we will start to see more trends as teams get more comfortable. We only have one total of 5.5 tonight, the rest are 6 or 6.5.
Three angles that I have been tracking that might be something to look at both short and long term are as follows. Lets see if scenario #1 holds true today as it has been a very profitable angle. I am tempted to play all 6 games under the total that fit scenario #2.
Scenario #1 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 16-7! 1-2 last night. NYR fit the system tonight.
Scenario #2 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 7-7 when teams play on the road back to back nights. 2-4 last night.
Scenario #3 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 21-16 in that situation. 2-4 last night. NYR, Boston and Nashville fit the system tonight.
Quick stat updates - First period totals going over were 4-4 last night and are 61-73 on the season. Road teams were 3-5 last night and are 53-81 on the season. Home side the way to go even with the higher juice on the ML! Game totals going over the total were 5-3 last night and are 73-59-2 on the season, which is still a very profitable angle.
Gamenotes for tonight –
Pitt/NYR – Rangers are off to a horrible start with many thinking they would take a leap forward in their rebuild. Bruins/Caps – Should be another tight game, Caps blew a 3-0 lead last time out as the Bruins sent it to OT with Washington prevailing. Preds/TB – Even the system says play Nashville, I have no faith in this team and TB is just that good at home.
