Following a major trade with the San Jose Sharks for Brent Burns yesterday, the Carolina Hurricanes made another huge splash in a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights.
In the trade, the Golden Knights sent forward Max Pacioretty and defenseman Dylan Coghlan to the Hurricanes for future considerations.

Coghlan is still just 24 years old and scored three goals and 13 points in 59 games with Vegas this season. He also has a year remaining at $762,500, before becoming a restricted free agent.
I’ll do a longer trade breakdown on this move but I don’t think it needs much analysis. The Hurricanes picked up two valuable pieces for literally nothing in return. It’s a ridiculous loss for the Golden Knights and Carolina is looking much better because of it.
The Hurricanes also made an underrated addition as well, signing forward Ondrej Kase to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. Kase is still just 26 years old and spent this past season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, scoring 14 goals and 27 points in 50 games.
