The Rangers, led by the kids, defeated the Lightning 1-0. After spotting Tampa a 1-0 lead, New York tied the game in the second period and tallied three times in the third to win the contest. The Blueshirts outplayed Tampa throughout the game and rewarded with a well-deserved win on a night where Dan Girardi was honored and Marc Staal was a healthy scratch for the first time in his 13-year career, allowing Ryan Lindgren, who was paired with Adam Fox, to dress..

Strome between Panarin and Fast, back in the lineup after a one-game absence. Chytil centers Kreider and Buchnevich while Kaako is on the third line with Howden and Lemieux. Greg McKegg is the odd-man out with Michael Haley dressing. In the future, could we see Zib, when he returns, between Panarin and Kakko?
Staal scratched on night where Girardi is honored and drops the ceremonial first puck. Who figured on that happening? Quinn's comment below is music to the ears of all those who have wanted play to be based on merit. But will he continue to follow this?
Here's what DQ said about sitting Marc Staal tonight.

"It was just something that I felt was needed and was the best thing for our team right now," adding, "Listen, we want to run a meritocracy here and guys who are playing well will continue to play."#NYR #NHL

Chytil was sent down just before the season and worked his way back up with hard work and effort. He was rewarded with a call up. With Zib sidelined, Chytil was in the top-six and had a beautiful tip for the goal.

More impressive than the goal was Fox and Lindgren being on the ice with five minutes to go in a one-goal game. Fox' tally, which was set up by Kreider, came not long after Tampa just missed tying the game by hitting the post. The end result was positive but there was some luck involved.
As mentioned on broadcast, Quinn had entire TV timeout to choose who to put out; puts out Lindgren-Fox up 1 with 5 mins left. pic.twitter.com/jibXngml1V

Georgiev was solid throughout the game. Tampa did have several quality chances and Georgie stoned all but one, which came about due to a poor line change. He showed excellent reactions and quickness post to post along with a strong glove. Look for Quinn to continue to use Georgiev every other game or at a minimum a 60/40 split in action, as the netminder deserves the extra playing time.
